Berlin: A Source of Inspiration and Endless Discoveries

Traveling… I love it! It not only gives me a fresh perspective on the world but also endless inspiration for my designs. Earlier this month, I spent a few days in Berlin, a city that is so easy and relaxed to reach by train. And as always, this vibrant metropolis did not disappoint.

Berlin has a vibe like no other: raw and pure, understated yet bold, easygoing yet a melting pot of art in countless forms. It is a city that never ceases to inspire. Whether you love history, street art, design, culinary delights, or just wandering around, Berlin has something for everyone.

Here are my Berlin tips, just for you:

✦ Where to Stay

A good accommodation can make or break your travel experience. Luckily, Berlin offers a wide range of unique stays, whether you love boutique hotels, design hotels, or cozy apartments.

Michelberger Hotel: This hotel has been a favorite among creatives and travelers who enjoy a relaxed, artistic atmosphere. The rooms are uniquely decorated, and the communal spaces are perfect for unwinding or working.
Sly Berlin: A stunning design hotel that is quickly becoming a new favorite. Sleek lines, warm materials, and thoughtful interiors make this a must-stay for modern design lovers. This is where I stayed and loved it!
25hours Hotel Bikini Berlin: This hotel not only offers a fantastic city view but also a jungle-like atmosphere with a playful and creative design.

✦ Food & Drinks

Berlin is a true paradise for food lovers. From cozy coffee spots to trendy restaurants and bustling food markets, there is something delicious for everyone.

• Breakfast:

o Betty’n Caty: A cozy spot where you’ll find delicious breakfast dishes. The pancakes are a must-try!
o Dots: Perfect for a relaxed morning with great coffee and freshly baked treats.

• Brunch:

o Kitchen: Their avocado toast with eggs is simply divine. A perfect way to start your day.

• All-day dining:

o House of small Wonder: Whether you’re in the mood for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, this place is always a great choice. Try the matcha latte and book a table in advance.

• Coffee:

o Milch and Concierge: Two intimate coffee bars with excellent coffee. Perfect for a small break while exploring the city.
• Sweet Treats:
o Markthalle Neun: An absolute must-visit for food lovers. From artisan bakers to international street food stands, you can enjoy endlessly here.

✦ Shopping

For design lovers and fashion enthusiasts, Berlin is a dream destination. From independent designers to vintage treasures, you can find unique pieces here.

• Designers & Concept Stores:

o Studio183 and Studio183XL: Located in the bikini house. Two great hubs where emerging designers showcase their work. I brought a real cool jeans jacket from a Romanian designer.
o Store X  (under Soho House): Luxury fashion and design in an inspiring environment. If you like fashion; this is a must-see. The same is 
o Voo Store: What a great collection of great designers this shop has. Love it!
o Cruba: Lovely clothes and everthing is produced within 250 kilometers from Berlin. 
o  Sneakerstuff: If you love sneakersss.
o Wohnzimmer36: or all nice interior design stuff
o N.A. Design: beautiful collection a bit Scandinavian design. 
o The good store: a really really nice designer vintage shop

• Vintage:

Who Killed Bambi, Soul & Style, Humana, Clueless: The ultimate spots to find hidden fashion gems from the past.

• For book lovers:

@proqm on Almstadtstraße: A paradise for lovers of art, design, and architecture books.

✦ Sights & Inspiration

Berlin is bursting with cultural and historical highlights. Here are some places you should not miss:

• Checkpoint Charlie: An iconic Cold War relic that reminds you of the city’s divided past.
Holocaust Memorial: A striking and deeply moving monument that will leave a lasting impression.
East Side Gallery: An open-air gallery on a remaining section of the Berlin Wall, where art and history intertwine.
Tempelhofer Feld: A former airport that has been transformed into a gigantic urban park. Perfect for walking, cycling, or picnicking.
Museum Island: A collection of five world-famous museums on an island in the Spree River.

✦ Hidden Gems

Besides the well-known attractions, Berlin also has numerous hidden treasures:

• Teufelsberg: An abandoned NSA listening post with amazing street art and a panoramic view of the city.
Clärchens Ballhaus: A nostalgic dance hall where you can enjoy live music and a fantastic atmosphere.
Hackesche Höfe: A maze of charming courtyards filled with boutiques, art galleries, and cafés.

What makes Berlin so special is the unique mix of history, art, creativity, and freedom. The city feels raw and authentic, with an unmistakable energy that you won’t find anywhere else. Whether you’re strolling through the graffiti-covered streets of Kreuzberg, enjoying a gourmet dinner in Mitte, or relaxing in a hip café in Prenzlauer Berg. Berlin really got me this time.
